Calliope Ooc: This is technically for one of the Irrsin Alphas, but really anyone can reply. The morning of her return, Calliope had spent nearly an hour splashing around in the river, trying to rid herself of any and all incriminating scents. The trek back through Irrsin's territory, combined with the sun and wind, left her almost completely dry. Anyone already up at camp was still groggy from sleep and she could easily answer their questions with a story about not being able to sleep and deciding to hunt. It was the perfect crime and she had gotten away with it.
Or so she thought. Though for a long time only her memories and the shallow cuts on her side linked her to that night. When the cuts healed, Calliope believed that it was all truly behind her. Every so often she indulged herself in a daydream where she revisited her night with Phrino, but soon even those decreased in frequency. Then came that awful day when she noticed a slight bulge in her stomach. She tried to tell herself it was merely the result of too much prey, but deep down she knew.
Calliope was carrying Phrino's pups.
As her stomach grew, she had to find more excuses to spend as much time away from the pack as possible. Finally, the spindly fae accepted that her new physique would be impossible to hide. She looked permanently bloated, and soon her belly would extend even farther.
And so, here she was, standing anxiously outside the Alphas' den. Kasimira would be mad, but she would be even angrier if she had to find out from one of the other slaves. At least this way her death would be quick and merciful. No, she told herself sternly, she is not going to kill you. You are going to be just fine. Unsurprisingly, knowing this did not make her want to confess her pregnancy any more.
Several deep breaths entered her lungs and left. Maybe Tortuga was the only one in camp today. He would surely be kinder. Then again, did she really want to delay facing Kasimira any longer than she already had? Screwing up her courage, Calliope cleared her throat.
"My alphas? I wish to speak with you."
Her words echoed back as they hit the stone walls of the den, returning from a darkness her sight could not penetrate. As she waited for a response, Calliope prepared herself for what would come next.
Her voice shaking slightly, she rehearsed how to deliver the news. "My lady, my lord . . . I am carrying pups." Too abrupt? Maybe abrupt was best . . . "I humbly submit myself for punishment," she added, wondering if it was a good idea to bring up discipline.
For now, she would leave out her jaunt outside of the pack lands and the identity of the father. After all, she thought bitterly, Phrino hadn't wanted to get involved with her. Calliope decided right then and there that he would never know about his pups. Whether this was punishment for him or protection for her, she couldn't say.
